Inspiration

Books, schools, television, internet and family. All ways to learn to cook, in fact you can't turn on the TV without seeing some celebrity chef or a cooking game show. Finding something that makes you a better chef is very important. There are too many "instant" meals available today, none of which are very good. Being able to cook a quick, cheap and healthy meal are vital. My wife and I have always been interested in cooking, both of our parents are incredible cooks, each with their own sets of skills that we have acquired.

Lately, I have become a huge fan of "Good Eats" on The Food Network, hosted by Alton Brown.  I've found his approach to cooking very interesting. His recipes and technique are more about the science of cooking than any other TV Chef.

His recipes are incredibly good, fast and intelligent. Throughout this blog you'll notice some of his recipes, I hope you take a minute and try some of them out as I know you'll be as impressed with "Good Eats" as I am.

A New Project Thus A New Blog

Cooking has always been a common activity in our relationship.  Even way back during our college years when we first started dating we would make dinner together.  So it isn't surprising that during the first year of our marriage cooking dinner together became part of our routine.  After a busy day at work it was a time where we could work together at a task as partners.

Last year after my 30th birthday I set the goal of trying four new recipes a month.  And then Dan landed on the Food Nework show Good Eats and became a studious viewer often taking notes.  We have both started to try more adventurous recipes as well as new quick & easy recipes that just include a new combination of ingredients.  Just a few days ago as I was taking pictures of Dan's work making candied ginger, he said that he wanted to set a goal of trying a new recipe a week.  And this is when it hit me, we need to start a blog together dedicated to journaling our adventures in the kitchen.

So Two Cooks One Kitchen will include posts from our different interests and cooking preferences as well as those where we work together to pull off a menu.  Enjoy!
